Objectives
Development of an RFID wristband which is suitable for all patient relevant RFID processes in healthcare.

The Challenge
The used wristbands shall provide the highest possible wearing comfort as they
shall be wearable over a longer period, too.
The applied transponders shall be small-sized and lightweight.
They have to be suitable for various use cases (patent identification, infant protection system, long-term monitoring)
Transponder and wristband have to be water resistant, withstand cleansers and
disinfectants as well as cosmetics
The wristband has to meet medical requirements (hyper allergenic, suitable for infants)
The use of RFID must not cause interferences with medical equipment
Solution Approach
Development of a concept based on active RFID technology. In order to realize
a thin wristband a lithium polymer accumulator is used as energy supply.
In order to define security and alarm zones wireless networks are used
Transponder and wristband have to be water resistant, withstand cleansers and
disinfectants as well as cosmetics
In order to immediately detect unauthorized access of alarm zones an additional
LF-trigger is integrated into the wristband
